Mitch Wallis on How to Do Hard Things, Overcome Perfectionism and Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve

This week I welcome the wonderful Mitch Wallis to the pod. Mitch is a mental health expert, speaker, founder of Heart on My Sleeve and Co-Founder of Calm Water.

While living a seemingly perfect life, hitting all the usual success markers, being the youngest ever intern at Microsoft and paving a successful career, Mitch was masking deep inner turmoil.

An outer appearance of a perfectionist and high achiever was masking deep insecurities that led Mitch down a path of self discovery to find a desire to express his internal values and ultimately dedicating his life to helping others find emotional wellbeing.

In this chat, Mitch and I talk about:

  • The root insecurities of being a perfectionist and high achiever
  • Wearing a mask and discovering who you truly are
  • External validation vs intrinsic values
  • How external wins fuel the ego and identity
  • How to accept yourself and where you’re at
  • Why connection is so important
  • The value of being seen and heard
  • Why do we avoid pain?
  • How facing your pain helps you grow
  • A powerful journalling exercise for self reflection

Plus so much more
