Co-Founder of Livin & Actor Sam Webb on Understanding Yourself, Being Happy vs Being Distracted from Sadness, Mental Health & Acting

**Trigger warning. In this episode, we touch on the topic of suicide.

This week I’m joined by the awesome Sam Webb. Sam is the co-founder of not for profit mental health organisation Livin, he’s also an actor who you may have seen on Neighbours, Home & Away and Survivor.

This was such an impactful chat. Sam and I get stuck into all things mental health, dealing with emotions and how acting is so intertwined with understanding yourself and developing as a person.

These are such important topics, especially in the wake of Covid. Although things seem like they are mostly returning back to normal, the long term effects of the global pandemic are still lingering.

We talk all about:

  • How Sam’s close friend Dwayne Lally’s death paved the way for Livin to be created
  • The impact of Livin’s education and workshops on dismantling the stigma of mental health
  • The warning signs we should look out for with our friends and family
  • How to be a better support person for the people we care about dealing with mental health issues
  • How to start the conversation around mental health
  • The difference between happiness and distracting from sadness
  • How acting helps to understand yourself better
  • The biggest thing acting has taught Sam about himself

Plus so much more!
