Did you know that 1 in 2 Australian women are currently experiencing a mental health issue?
52% of women are experiencing body image issues
And one of the key triggers is social media and media messaging.
In this episode, we celebrate Women’s Health Week and also the Liptember Campaign which is all about raising awareness for women’s mental health. I’m thrilled to welcome CEO and Founder of the Liptember Foundation Luke Morris and Communications and Marketing Manager Katrina Locandro to the pod this week.
As you know, I’m a huge mental health advocate and this ep was so eye opening to chat to Luke and Kat all about what’s currently happening women’s mental health particularly in Australia, and the importance of applying a women-centric lens when unpacking mental health.
We get stuck into;
- Women-centric mental health and the problems women specifically face
- Mental health and PCOS, Endometriosis, fertility etc
- Social media and the effect on body image and mental health
- Tips to help with the effects of social media
- The importance of being vulnerable and real
- Connection through community and real people
- Being in the moment and embracing change
Plus so much more!
The Liptember campaign runs all through September so make sure you get involved to help raise awareness and funds for important women’s mental health programs. For more info about the campaign and how you can get involved go to: https://www.liptember.com.au/
